Use NTBACKUP.EXE to back up the system state. It creates copies of the registry files in %SYSTEMROOT%\Repair\RegBack, provided you check the checkbox to save the backup to disk.
Even if you don't insert any diskette, it will still back up to disk, then complain about the missing diskette. Ignore the complaint.
