Windows HDD Space recog problem

Hi.

My Windows Vista Ultimate has gone mad and recognises my hard disk space and file sizes as they were 100 or 1000 times larger or bigger.

If I search for my hard disk in device manager or anywhere else the spaces are ok, but in explorer it shows that I have a 390 GB partition with !!903 GB free instead of 39 GB with 9 GB free and so on. I ran chkdsk but with no result.

Can you help me? Thanks a lot!

Better than the other way around

This is a funny problem that I haven't seen before. Be glad you're not losing disk space. Most people complain that Vista takes too much away.

Since when do you have this problem? What did you do before you got it? Did you install any software at that time? Did you install or use any disk partition management software, including Vista's own partition manager? Did you attempt to resize any partitions?

Have you read the general help and followed its advice? Are you sure your computer is not infected with any virus, Trojan, root kit, or the like?

Does Windows Explorer always show the same wrong sizes, even after a reboot, or do the size figures vary? Do other indicators, like the dir command in a command line window, also show wrong sizes? Do they show the same wrong sizes?
