WindowsA problem in Windows, probably caused by Windows or one of its components (except driver problems - select Hardware for these) "My Documents" does not appear in "My Computer"Wed, 2009-07-08 16:32 · Forum/category:Okay- this is a little tiny thing but REALLY irritating! The "My Documents" shortcut will not appear in "My Computer" (NOT Desktop) in the limited user account. Will appear in the Admin account AND the user account with admin access. I've checked the Registry under HKLM and HKCU for shell folder paths and doc folder paths and I've changed permissions and checked the desktop.ini - I HAD a fix for this - something in nonenum or Windows NT folder in the registry and forgot it- it definitely involved the CLSID for "My Docs".

ISA 2000 multiple instances issueFri, 2009-06-05 18:36 · Forum/category:I had recently installed IE8 on a Windows 2003 SBS server which also runs ISA 2000. After noticing that our anti-virus software was no longer automatically updating I investigated and found that it was not able to connect to the update site properly through the automated process, but could using the manual update button. Icons not working properlyTue, 2009-05-19 11:33 · Forum/category:I thought I would let you know about a problem that suddenly occurred. I double clicked on an icon and the properties box came up. I tried right clicking the icon and the wrong one appeared. I thought I had a virus but I then remembered that some years ago I read somewhere that by rapid clicking the shift key, the control key, and then the delete key seperately it could clear faulty icons. While I was doing this a dialog box came up with something about "sticky keys" I didn't take too much notice of that as the fault had now gone. RUNDLL problemWed, 2009-04-29 23:48 · Forum/category:Keep getting a window opening up, one after the other every thirty seconds or so that says, What can I do to stop this? Any help appreciated.
Font too big for text boxesWed, 2009-04-01 02:55 · Forum/category:I have an issue with text boxes within Windows XP. The font in all related applications now falls outside of the text boxes e.g. MS Outlook 2007, Options - all of the wording appears bolded and is to big for the text box. All of the text boxes in applications are also now shifted off-center to the right. Also, the appearance & spacing of the Start Menu items has been slightly modified. I have had this once before and did stumble across a setting in a program which fixed it but cannot find now. IE & Firefox normal. DPI & appearance settings within Display properties unchanged. W32TimeSun, 2009-03-29 18:05 · Forum/category:I have 5 PCs all with XP Pro. On one 1 PC the Windows 32 Time service keep reverting to stop. System 32 folderMon, 2009-03-23 13:03 · Forum/category:computer displays System 32 folder on screen after boot up why?
Update install loopTue, 2009-03-17 15:22 · Forum/category:SP2 patch KB954430 (Security Update for XML Core Services 4.0) re-installs over and over. SP3 already installed. I installed SP3 at least a year ago on my Windows XP Pro. Recently, I modified the system to ask to install updates instead of doing so automatically. Since then, I get requests to install SP2 update KB954430 repetitively. I installed it at shut-down a few times anyway. Why would it need to be installed at all, if I have SP3 installed already? Should I remove the patch manually? Thanks for the help.
Start Menu folders missing?Sat, 2009-03-07 03:49 · Forum/category:I'm running Windows Vista and I recently noticed that a lot of my folders are missing from my Start menu, such as the Accessories folder and the Games folder. I think it's been like this for a long time so any sort of System Restore won't work. Is there another way to get these back? I checked the actual Start menu folders to see if they even exist and yes they're there. But for some reason they don't show up in the actual menu.
